Minutes of Previous Meeting

The minutes of the previous meeting of 17 February having been circulated were passed as a true record of events.

Morebattle Development Site Letter sent to landowner.

Defibrillators Cllr Bell had asked Yetholm CC re. issues of insurance and property deeds but they had no experience. She would also speak to The Border Hotel in Kirk Yetholm.

Cllr Aitchison would have training dates before the end of the month and the village shop would be kept updated. The cases had been delivered.

Land by Morebattle PS Cllr Pedersen has been unable to contact landowner.

Scottish Borders Health and Social Care Integration consultation

Cllr Halliday responded on behalf of the community council.

Morebattle Street Names Cllr Bell reported that finding missing street names was not straightforward as some locations had several names. The community would need to agree a single name and provide evidence if a case for installing a street sign was to be made. Cllr Bell would continue to reconnoitre the village with other residents. A map would be placed in the village shop with location names.

Salt Bin Cllr Aitchison reported that the bin would be replaced in 2015/16.

Potholes Cllr Aitchison reported no action after 4 weeks since reporting the issues via the SBC website.

Health & Social Care Integration Events

Agreed to promote a public meeting event in Morebattle. Cllr McEwan noted that 1000 flyers would be required. A date in summer to be agreed.

Community Council Block Insurance cover

Secretary read out questions from SBC’s insurer for community councils the answers to which would be forwarded to SBC.

Items for Circulation Folder

The Secretary summarised some of the items going into the new circulation folder as listed on the agenda.

Cllr Bell intended to attend the event.

Cllr Aitchison noted that the defibrillators would now cost £584 to fit, an increase of £244 over the original estimate.

No location had yet been found in Cessford so the remaining three units would be fitted before the end of the month.

Four community councillors would be trained at Borders General Hospital.

With regards to insurance, any units that failed would be replaced.

Cllr Edgar reported on significant access problems to Linton Village Hall. Chair suggested he discuss the issue with SBC Cllr Nicol and that the community council would support the hall committee’s efforts.
