Minutes of Previous Meeting

The minutes of the previous meeting of 19 March having been circulated were then passed as a true record of events.

The three Kelso SBC ward councillors have objected to the removal of the Kelso waste service and are awaiting a response from the Council.

Application still awaiting decision. Likely to be decided by delegated powers.

Leaflets have been distributed to the local representatives and distribution is underway..

Kalewater Community Council elections, May 2013
Secretary tabled nomination forms, etc. for annual elections.

Currently the community council has 12 places, of which 11 are filled including 1 co-opted member. One member, Eric McNulty has reached the end of his current 4-year term. Therefore there are 3 vacancies seeking nominations by Monday 20 May.

SBC Cllr Mountford volunteered to chair the AGM on 21 May.

Redesigning the Community Justice System Consultation

The Chair kindly offered to respond on behalf of the community council.

·  Derelict site at Morebattle update
The community council noted that progress toward an improvement of the situation was slow.
Questions were raised over the effect of tree roots on the adjacent churchyard from the hedge planted along the edge of the development site.

SBC Cllr Nicol noted that the group had visited two new High Schools in Lasswade and in East Renfrewshire that were built under the same Cost/Area constraints as the proposed new Kelso HS would be built.
SBC Director of Education & Lifelong Learning Glenn Rodger will undertake a ‘whole-town’ review of all public buildings.

·  Oil Purchase Scheme in Crailing, Eckford & Nisbet CC area

Cllr Pedersen was concerned at the continued late arrival of school transport in Morebattle for children leaving for school and the lack of communication. SBC Cllr Mountford to investigate.
