Matters Arising from Actions 20 August 2019

Noticeboard

Chair tabled a quotation for refurbishment of the noticeboard of £335 plus £90 for decorative work. SBC Cllr Mountford suggested applying to SBC for a Community Grant. Cllr Henderson to progress.

Morebattle Community Land acquisition

An archaeological investigation was underway as of 17 September..

BT phone boxes

Cessford has a phone box plus adjacent defibrillator which helps justify continued presence of a phone box. Secretary to forward support of KCC to SBC.

Chair contacted BT which confirmed that Morebattle box was a K7 and there was no option to change it or move it. Awaiting a SBC response re. insurance should KCC take over its maintenance. The box could be used as an information point and a contact point for St Cuthbert’s Way walkers and also for the use of Morebattle PS.

Cllr Murray is arranging a training session for village shop staff in defibrillator use.

Chair reported on progress with replacement units via Scottish HART. SBC Community Grant forms to be completed. Thanks also to a maintenance contribution from the Yetholm & Morebattle Windfall Fund.

Morebattle Main Street – shop access ramp

Secretary to check whether recent appearance of a shop access ramp on Morebattle Main Street required a planning application.

19/01219/FUL APPLICANT: Mr Robert Scott NATURE OF PROPOSAL: Re-instatement of former dwellinghouse to provide holiday let accommodation SITE: Redundant farmhouse at Chesterhouse, Over Whitton Farm Cottages, Kelso

Anti-social behaviour

Cllr Henderson reported that there had recently been a late night weekday disturbance involving two young men staying in holiday accommodation in Teapot Street.

Death Notice

There was discussion between community councillors, led by the Chair and Secretary, over whether the recent death of the duke of Roxburghe should be recorded in the community council minutes. Cllr Murray agreed to help find an agreed position.
