Minutes of Previous Meeting

The minutes of the previous meeting of 18 November having been circulated were passed as a true record of events.

Matters Arising from 18 November Actions

Defibrillators See item 4.

Trysting tree Cllrs Hall & Halliday reported that they had chosen the cheaper estimate and that the tree had already been pruned. They had also received £100 from each of the Kelso & Jed Festivals. Total cost to date £220 approx. The guard around the tree is still to be repaired.

Vodafone Signal Cllr McEwan and SBC Cllr Mountford intimated that O2 and Vodafone are going to upgrade their masts to 4G – work to be completed end of summer. SBC Cllr Nicol intimated that broadband improvements should be made within the next 2 to 3 yrs.

Morebattle Development Site SBC Cllr Nicol suggested making a list of everything needing attention and arranging a meeting with the owner. Discussion followed re screening trees, hedges etc and  SBC Cllr Nicol also going to look out plans re screening, hedges, trees etc.

Kelso bus shelters SBC Cllr Mountford had passed on comments from November meeting.

Resilience Meeting Cllr Pederson reported that June MacGregor from Paxton CC attended a meeting at Morebattle on Sat. 17th Jan where discussion took part re an exercise to be based round an aeroplane crash in the hills.

Defibrillators

Cllr Aitchison reported that the cabinets will now cost £350 each = £1400 plus £200 for donation to HART and £85 for each cabinet to be fitted by electrician. George will give the go ahead.

Training Course next month at BGH.

By end of February should all be up and running (still to confirm location for Cessford).

Planning Application for replacement double glazed windows at Lower Flat, Yarra Doon, Mainsfield Avenue, Morebattle (no objections).

Numerous potholes in and around Morebattle, Caverton Mill & Hownam reported to SBC Cllr Mountford. Cllr Mountford also reported that previously reported road repairs around Frogden, Linton area has now been deferred to 2015/2016.

Cllr Halliday asked re 30 mile signs top of Mainsfield Avenue and whether there was a chance of moving these further up the road.  SBC Cllr Alec Nicol will look into this

Cllr Hall reported Morebattle Mains Pond – can this be landscaped and a seat put down for numerous walkers using this area. SBC Cllr Nicol said would need to speak with landowner.

Cllr Hall reported about old books with reference to Morebattle in the Institute and asked if it would be possible to make an archive of Old Morebattle. Cllr Hall thought David Welsh in the village would be the best person to ask re this. Cllr Hall will attend to this.

Cllr Hall noted that land below school needing attention – will need to speak with landowner. Cllr Hall will attend to this.

SBC Cllr Nicol intimated that new Recycling Centre will be ready end of April.
