Minutes of Previous Meeting

The minutes of the previous meeting of 16 April having been circulated were then passed as a true record of events.

Application still awaiting response from SBC Landscape Officer and Archaeology Officer.

Cllr Pedersen noted that there had been more than 20 responses from members of the community. More details at the next meeting.

·  Membership Approval at Community Energy Scotland - Kalewater Community Council

·  TV Programming in ITV Border Region - Ofcom Consultation, deadline 2 May 2013
Agreed that the consultation was flawed and the message should be passed to Ofcom.

·  Scotland’s Floral Gateway Competition 2013
Cllr Cessford already has the paperwork.

·  SBC response to KCC objection to removal of temporary disposal sites

·  Invitations to Kelso Civic Week Thursday 17 July and Jed Callant’s Festival Thursday 11 and Friday 12 July.

·  Invitation to Flodden 500th anniversary at Branxton 10 September for a solemn commemoration on the theme of peace and reconciliation.

SBC Cllr Mountford reported that Scottish Borders will benefit for an extra £8.5M to achieve 80-85% fast broadband coverage rather than the 75% Scot Govt target. No published list of FibreToTheCabinet exchanges yet. KCC area is covered by exchanges at Morebattle and Lempitlaw.

SBC Cllr Mountford presented the results of traffic speed monitoring by SBC outside Morebattle PS. Recorded speeds were ‘not unusual for the circumstances’ and there was no justification for further measures. The information will be passed to the Police.

Cllr Cessford noted the Jubilee Bridge refurbishment is still unfinished. SBC Cllr Nicol trying to make progress.

Cllr Pedersen noted some small but deep potholes at Morebattle Tofts bridge, near the 30mph sign

Cllr Cessford noted that the visit from SBC Officer Ronnie Pattenden to assess Morebattle street signs still hadn’t taken place. To SBC Cllr Mountford.

Sunday 23 June is visit from Jed Callant and Kelso Laddie. Chair concerned at lack of volunteers on the day in the village institute.

Cllr Cessford would contact dancers and organise gifts. Food list from 2012 available.

Chair would arrange lorry.

SBC Cllr Mountford would contact Sheriff McIntyre as a possible Master of Ceremonies. Local farmers were also suggested.

SBC Cllr Mountford reported that he had been contacted by a resident of Otterburn, Morebattle re. erecting a plaque to recognise the former Subscription Library in the Main Street of Morebattle. It was agreed that the community council would make the application as it would reduce the fee by 50%.
