Cllr Murray had been contacted by a potential graduate applicant.

Some uncertainty over how to determine whether applicants had attended Morebattle PS. Chair to contact SBC education service.

SBC Cllr Mountford reported that most waste lorries have separate glass containers but a few do not..

Kelso Laddie/Jethart Callant visit, 24 June 2018

Preparations are in hand.

The community council’s insurers had been in touch with a quote of £143.36 to cover the activities of the local Resilience Group and dancers at the Morebattle ride-out.

Secretary to contact SBC Officer Clare Malster re. whether other community councils include Resilience Groups under their insurance and where how the extra premium is split between the Resilience Group and the dancers.

The community council was content with the proposed strategy.

Cemetery

SBC Cllr Mountford reported that grass had been cut and anti-dog fouling signs installed. The cemetery was due to receive 5 cuts. He noted that the wider issue of whether communities could take on some maintenance duties was now being discussed. Discuss with Cllr Murray at next KCC meeting.

Could the Church take a role in the kirkyard maintenance? Contact session clerk in Yetholm.

The council doesn’t own the copyright to the images but the artists had waived a fee for non-profit activity.

The survey raised the issue of how to identify community members who would benefit from improved digital skills..

Planning Matters
18/00527/FUL Land South Of Sharplaw Farm Hownam Kelso APPLICANT: The Secretary Of State For The Home Office PROPOSAL: Erection of 25m high lattice mast with 3 No antennas and 2 No 600mm dishes, installation of a foul weather enclosure, 1 No electrical meter cabinet, 1 No generator and 1 No 1200mm satellite dish on a 2.6m high support pole in a compound surrounded by a 1.8m high fence and associated access track

The meeting was content with the proposal. It was suggested that white poles could be used to show the height of anemometer masts, etc.

Secretary updated the meeting with a letter from Scottish HART. Cllr Henderson noted that she had a contact for AED batteries. Also noted that Scottish Ambulance Service was apparently making a decision over its own supply of defibrillators

Private Water Supplies

SBC Cllr Mountford reported that there will soon be more frequent checks by SBC on private water supplies and a resulting increase in costs for private users.
