Minutes of Previous Meeting

The minutes of the previous meeting of 19 October having been circulated were passed as a true record of events.

Matters Arising from 19 October Actions

Meeting arranged with Vattenfall for 25 November at Roxburghe Hotel, Kelso. Cllr Hall noted that Oxnam Community Council had a new Chair.

Completed. Some Community Councillors still had problems printing though.

BT has no plans to decommission Hownam kiosk due to lack of mobile phone signal.

Request has been made for a new BT kiosk for Morebattle.

Kalewater Community Action Plan LEADER funding application

Secretary noted that it had not been possible to obtain the minimum of costed proposals by the mid-November deadline. A decision was now awaited on the level of funding support for the next application round.

Salt Bins

General concern that salt bins had yet to appear at a number of locations despite icy conditions. Chair to contact SBC Cllr Nicol and Secretary to contact SBC Roads Section.

  • Chair noted that Christmas tree would be supplied by John White w/c 13 December with carols around the tree on 19 December. The lights need some remedial work and a timer is required. Colin Flannigan to be contacted.
  • Chair concerned about the level of bus fares on the no. 81 route in relation to fares on the Kelso – Jedburgh no. 20 route. Contact SBC Officer John Dellow.
  • Chair noted dangerous tree by roadside at Morebattle northern 30mph sign. Contact SBC Roads section.
  • Cllr Hall noted that laminated Cheviot Heritage maps are now mounted in the pool room at the Templehall Inn, Morebattle.
  • Concern raised from some Morebattle community councillors regarding recent anti-social behaviour involving dogs. Suggested that they contact SB Warden service.
  • Cllr Aitchison noted that waste bins had not been emptied in Hownam on 15 November due to icy road conditions. Larger waste bins might help alleviate the problem of accumulating refuse.
  • Update requested re. crack in road at Heavyside Bridge. SBC Roads section.
  • Secretary handed out materials from the anti-violence to women White Ribbon campaign which had been received.
  • Cllr Hall thanked everyone for sending her a ‘Get Well Soon’ card.
