SBC Cllr Mountford reported that SBC Officer Brian Young had advised that a traffic priority sign at Linton Mill bridge and at Grubbit bridge required a good view of the road ahead and that as neither location possessed this, his advice was to preserve the status quo. It was agreed to ask SBC Cllr Mountford to request a ‘narrowing road ahead’ sign at Linton Mill.

AOB

  • Cllr Aitchison noted that road verges near Corbet Tower were dangerously overgrown, effectively narrowing the roadway. It was suggested that calling SBC’s customer service number might get the job done quicker than waiting for the entire road verge to be machine cut.
  • Cllr Pedersen noted that he had been approached by the BBC who were currently filming the activities of several local authority planning departments including that of SBC. His application (see item 7) was live and was of interest to the film-makers.
  • Cllr Lister noted that she had bought paint for the Jubilee bridge and that SBC had given verbal permission for the work to proceed.
  • Cllr Cessford reported that feedback on the Jubilee festivities had been very positive. Treasurer noted that a SBC grant of £464 had been received covering the cost of the disco, commemorative mugs and bunting. There was £7 donations income.
