Kalewater Resilient Community Exercise

The Kalewater Resilient Community Exercise is scheduled to be carried out on Sunday 17th April.

The theme is going to be two airplanes colliding above Morebattle, one is able to fly on, the other is coming down. Fortunately the pilot is able to parachute to safety, and we have to find him, and direct the ambulance to the scene, if needed.

The crashed aeroplane brought down the main power lines, and cut out the power supply to Morebattle and district. We will have to find where it is, and inform Scottish Power.

As all power to the village is cut, we will set up an emergency centre in the Village Hall, using a power generator, and gas for heating and cooking.

It is our hope as many people as possible will take this opportunity to try out what they think they can do to help in such situation.

The first thing to be done is to check your own home (remember it is without power), do what is needed, then go to your neighbours, especially those who are elderly or incapacitated, and may need help. Consider without power, they may not be able to cook or provide heating. Food and warm will be available in the Village hall, we hope to see everyone there.

For this purpose, we will need volunteers to provide food, like something nice to have with the coffee (can be pre made, and stored, ready for an emergency) and soup and sandwiches for lunch. All ingredients for this can be picked up from the shop, and billed to the SBC, just let me know what you would like to make, so that I can order it.

You will be able to get some ideas as to what will go on, when watching the film on http://youtu.be/gWYtuhLsZbg
