This fine building, disused as a church for 50 years, was roughly adapted for use as a bus depot and then a heavy haulage firm’s yard.
It has now been acquired by a Morebattle couple who are restoring it as a place of worship and also of rest and refreshment.
The church is on St Cuthbert’s Way and it is expected that walkers who make this pilgrimage will make use of this new resource.
St Cuthbert’s Way is a marked route for walkers running from Melrose to Lindisfarne, the journey undertaken during his lifetime by St Cuthbert. It passes through the village before taking to the hills en route to Yetholm.
